Since he doesn’t have a ton of moves at his disposal, Adon is not necessarily a difficult character to use, however, he is unique in the sense that good timing and execution will be needed in order to master his combos and use him effectively. Here are some tips that players can use to help get the most out of Adon’s abilities in Super Street Fighter IV:
Tip 1: Get Familiar with Adon`s Special Moves
One of the peculiar things about Adon is that all of his special moves have a specific trajectory to them and involve him jumping off the ground. Learning these trajectories is critical to landing attacks and incorporating special moves into combos for dealing maximum damage. Keep in mind that the trajectory of the special move will also vary depending on the level of attack used (light, medium, heavy) to initiate the attack.
Tip 2: Use Adon`s Normal Moves Frequently to Harass Your Opponent
Since he doesn't have a lot of special moves, using a variety of Adon's normal moves is essential to achieving victory. In particular, Adon has an excellent crouching medium punch that is quick, has good reach, and is great for harassing opponents.
Tip 3: Use Adon's Special Moves to Lure/Bait Your Opponent
Characters who have a big arsenal of moves can often throw out random attacks that can be effective even if the player isn't anticipating the opponent's movements. However, players using Adon will have to be a little more conservative and clever. Since Adon doesn't have any projectile moves, players using him will have to rely on luring their opponent into a bad situation so they can get in close enough to use close range attacks and combos. For example, by using a light or short range version of one of Adon's special moves, such as the "Jaguar Tooth" or "Jaguar Kick" it is easy to bait your opponent into throwing out an unsafe counter attack that can then capitalized on.
Tip 4: Use Adon's Armor Break Moves to Catch Your Opponent Off Guard
Unlike most of the other characters in the game that might only have one special move or ultra combo with armor breaking properties, Adon has two special moves and two ultra combos that all have armor break. This makes it is easier for him to effectively counter focus attacks from other characters. In addition, a number of Adon's attacks have more than one hit attached to them making them ideal for countering focus attacks as well. The main lesson to be learned here is that if an opponent is seen charging up for a focus attack it's probably a good idea to try and counter it.
Overall, Adon is most likely a mid-tier character. He's strong and well-rounded so players likely won't ever feel like they are at a distinct disadvantage in a fight, but at the same time he doesn't have any super powerful moves that would make him stronger than some of the other characters in the game. So, if flashy moves and playing mind games with opponents is your thing, be sure to give Adon a try in Super Street Fighter IV now available on Xbox 360 and PS3.
